    Taiz – Monday, September 15, 2025

A delegation from the European Union Mission to Yemen, led by Justus Mulman, Head of the Development Cooperation Section, accompanied by Wael Abdo Al-Shafi, Director of Security and Governance Projects, visited the Memory Museum in Taiz. The visit reflects the European Union's commitment to supporting documentation efforts and raising community awareness about the suffering of civilians during the war.

During the tour, the delegation explored the museum’s exhibits, which include photographs, models, and artworks documenting the siege imposed on the city and depicting the daily struggles of its residents.

Mulman expressed his admiration for what he witnessed, emphasizing that the Memory Museum represents a significant initiative that highlights victims’ stories and creatively and humanely documents violations. He underscored the EU’s commitment to supporting civil initiatives aimed at preserving collective memory and advancing transitional justice in Yemen.

He noted that the museum’s location is an inspiring choice to educate future generations, particularly school students, about their city’s history and the events it endured. Mulman described the artistic and humanitarian documentation as “remarkable work that reflects the will to live despite the siege and harsh conditions,” adding that “each painting carries a message and hope for the possibility of renewal.”
