SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties, Abductees' Mothers Association, and DT Institute, in partnership with the Siege Affairs Office, the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums branch, and the Culture Office, inaugurated the "Memory Museum" event as part of the SPARK project activities in the city of Taiz.

The opening was attended by the Deputy Governor for Social Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sanawi, along with several cultural, political, media, and academic figures, as well as representatives of civil society organizations.

The Memory Museum aims to document the trajectories and sufferings of the siege in Taiz, marking the first exhibition to embody the city's blockade. The museum showcased over 250 paintings, 165 photographs, and 20 artistic models, in addition to a display screen and a dedicated memory corner, as part of efforts to preserve the collective memory of victims and document the humanitarian tragedy experienced by the city over the past decade.

Muath Al-Faqih, the coordinator of the SPARK project, stated that the project seeks to support peace in Yemen through accountability, reconciliation, and knowledge exchange (SPARK). He highlighted the empowerment of civil society organizations to develop a deeper understanding of transitional justice concepts, implement them, and create innovative mechanisms to enhance national and international dialogue on transitional justice as a key approach to achieving sustainable peace in the country.

He added that the project focuses on promoting community participation and awareness through the implementation of sub-initiatives in restorative justice and awareness campaigns targeting survivors, victims, the local community, and political parties.

This initiative aims to document the years of the siege and the suffering of Taiz and its people, highlighting images of human resilience in the face of war, preserving the victims' memory, and giving their suffering a present voice in the community's conscience.
