    Taiz – August 26, 2025
The city of Taiz witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the General Authority of Antiquities and Museums and SAM Organization for Rights and Freedoms, aimed at launching the event “Memory Museum – Taiz” under the slogan “Memory of Pain… Path of Life.”

This initiative is part of the project “Supporting Peace in Yemen through Accountability, Reconciliation, and Knowledge Exchange (SPARK),” funded by the DT Institute. The project seeks to advance transitional justice and social reconciliation by transforming the suffering endured during the siege into a living memory preserved through artistic works and human testimonies.

The organizers of the initiative emphasized that the Memory Museum will serve as a documentation and humanitarian space, highlighting the hardships faced by the people of Taiz during the years of the siege. It will showcase their resilience and determination to survive, especially women, children, and patients, in the face of harsh conditions.

The partners hope that this step will help transform pain into advocacy and positive change, while raising community awareness of the importance of safeguarding collective memory as part of Yemen’s justice and peace process.

This initiative also reflects the strengthened partnership between local authorities and civil society organizations, contributing to the promotion of coexistence, the protection of collective memory, and the support of Yemen’s path toward justice and peace.
