As part of the SPARK project, a coordination meeting was held on Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, at the headquarters of the Abductees’ Mothers Association, bringing together members of the National Reconciliation Committee with Mr. Ahmed Haza’a Al-Sanawi, Director General of Al-Ma’afer District, and Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Baqiri, Head of Services in the district.
The Chairperson of the Association, Ms. Amat Al-Salam, welcomed the participants and delivered a brief overview of the Committee’s objectives, mandate, and its role in supporting community efforts to address the consequences of conflict and advance transitional justice.
In his remarks, the Director General reaffirmed the local authority’s commitment to working collaboratively with all active stakeholders and continuing efforts to promote stability and support initiatives that strengthen social cohesion. He emphasized that, despite ongoing challenges, Al-Ma’afer remains one of the most secure districts in the governorate.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Director General expressed his full support for the National Reconciliation Committee and pledged to facilitate its work in resolving social and political disputes and fostering peaceful coexistence.
This meeting underscored the vital role of the Reconciliation and Consensus Committee in promoting reconciliation values, building trust with local authorities, and the need for ongoing coordination to reinforce the social fabric and preserve community identity.
